We bring a completely different mean to “Wind in your hair”
Joy on the Journey is a heartwarming non-profit organization dedicated to bringing moments of delight and freedom to elderly individuals living with dementia. Through the use of specially designed trishaws (three-wheeled bicycles with a comfortable passenger seat at the front) trained volunteers pedal seniors through parks, neighborhoods, and scenic routes, gifting them the simple pleasure of fresh air, movement, and the world passing by. We will also be giving rides to seniors and the mobility impaired (living in independent and assisted living) as well as those with dementia/cognitive impairment. For many riders, who may rarely leave their care facilities, these outings spark genuine joy: smiles, laughter, and even cherished memories stirred by the sights, sounds, and breeze around them. More than just a ride, Joy on the Journey offers a profound reminder that life’s beauty is still fully accessible, regardless of age or cognitive ability, and that the journey itself is always worth celebrating.

At Joy on the Journey, the people we serve are at the very heart of everything we do. We exist for the elderly men and women living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease — individuals who, despite their diagnosis, carry with them a lifetime of stories, love, and spirit. Many of those we serve reside in care facilities or depend on family caregivers, and may rarely have the opportunity to venture outside or experience the simple pleasures of the world around them. They are mothers, fathers, grandparents, and cherished members of their communities who deserve to feel seen, valued, and full of joy, not defined by their condition, but celebrated for who they are. It is for them that we pedal, and it is their smiles that remind us why this journey matters.
